At what age can kids use electric cars?

If you’re looking to buy an electric car, you may be wondering what the right age is for your child to drive one. The answer to this question is somewhat complex. There’s no hard and fast rule, but there are some factors to consider.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that kids shouldn’t ride in electric cars until they’re at least 8 years old. Kids who are 8 years old and over can ride in electric cars as long as the car can go no more than 12.4 miles per hour. Many electric cars are built to accommodate children beginning at age 3. Some electric cars, however, are designed to hold children as young as 12 months old.

Kids must learn how to drive and get used to the feeling of driving before they get behind the wheel of an actual car. This is why it’s recommended that kids start learning how to drive in electric cars or go-karts when they’re about 8 or older.
